Activesound underlayment improves comfort by offering excellent acoustics and subfloor correcting properties for fast track installations. Mohawk luxury vinyl tile can be installed directly over most existing floor coverings except for carpet laminate and cushioned vinyl flooring. If you re laying the lvp over an existing cushion backed vinyl floor or a below grade tile floor then you won t need to use an underlayment. The easiest way to figure out if you need underlayment for your new vinyl plank flooring is to look at your current floor.

While underlayment for vinyl planks may be used under hardwood and laminate the reverse is not true. Vinyl planks require hard thin underlay because the product itself is softer. Vinyl is waterproof which makes it perfect for kitchens or other high traffic areas such as a living room or den. Putting a soft product under vinyl plank will result in an unstable floor that is much more inclined to being damaged and even punctured or torn over time.

Ideal for lvp lvt wpc or spc vinyl flooring the foam construction absorbs ambient noise and sound transmission between floors while the patented griptec design prevents seam separation under heavy commercial traffic. With certain types of flooring the underlayment can be just as important as the floor itself.
